Some Kind of Zombie by Drakarus Some Kind of Zombie by Drakarus
JBNDSojgKJRWkrlekjhjhytjkt.

wut.

Yeah, I'd never thought I'd live to see the day I'd draw a zombie and enjoy it... although with all the L4D going around that shouldn't have been a surprise. But it was because this guy has no association with that whatsoever! :D

As many of you know, or should know, I have the nasty habit of (badly) drawing characters I like, somewhat so I can treasure the memories of my past fandoms and such, but mostly because, well, IT'S A HELL LOT OF FUN TO DO!

And of course, I never know what to write in the artist comments here other than OMFGSOHOT but I will try.

This guy is from :iconvert-is-ninja:'s webcomic Hanna Is Not A Boy's Name. And damn, I am SO glad I managed to find it when I did (the colours dragged me in, I admit). Now, I'm a tough critic when it comes to what types of comics I like, but this was definitely an automatic hook. I mean, FUCK, A TRENCH COAT WEARING ZOMBIE WITH WINGS IN HIS HAIR. Awesome character design as well.

Gwaaaah, and now I don't know what to say. Also, COLOURS! BECAUSE YOU ALL LOVE IT WHEN MICHY BLINDS YOU WITH COLOURS AND GLOWING SHIT, RIGHT?

YEAH, YOU DO.

Anyhow, the REAL reason behind this was mostly to try to work on my style. For the past few weeks, I've really been thinking about what I'd want my style to be like (it's hard D: ) and the obvious answer to that is, whatever the hell feels right. So I've been doodling a lot of sketches lately to see what feels more natural and thought 'HEY, this could be a cool thing to try out', what with me having an obsession with curvy faces and everything else pretty much. So yeah.

GO READ IT NOW.

P.S I am slightly tempted to draw a Hanna now. GWAAAH. Or maybe Ves. Hopefully they won't freak out my neighbour when he walks into my room and notices some green dead guy drawn on my drafting table. Maybe.

Chunky styled art plus multicolored background = WIN

I HAS QUESTION -raises hand-
Did you add the white lines on in photoshop? Or can you add white on with pastels?

His outfit design. I liek it. (LOL, the wings in his hair got to me, at first, I was pretty sure my eyes were broken, I mean, CHIBI ANGEL WINGS IN ZOMBIE HAIR? DOES. NOT. COMPUTE. -explodes)

"Style" seems (to me anyway) one of those things that goes on and on in circles.
So I don't think about it at all. :la:

I wanted to try something different. :) And since this wasn't really a 'serious' piece (lol well, it turned serious during the coloring phase and then went back to being silly with the background) I thought I might as well have some fun!

LOL um, I so photoshopped that in there. I mean, the original had the white lines as well (except around this face and all, it was originally just the 'frames') but they looked powdery so I traced over them. I'm afraid of smudging white on black, it's never turned out well for me! Ever! D:

[link] LOL DESIGN REPLICATION FAIIIIIL. Yes, the wings are a bit odd, but I find they add to the colour scheme, which is really nice. Plus, you really start to enjoy then when you have some non-winged head to compare it to, hurdurrr. :dummy:

That's true. It's just annoying, to me anyway, when people look at my art and say 'LOLZ ANIME'. I'm trying my best, you gaiz! D:

But yeah, I guess it's something that will come in time, but experimentation is also pretty useful (I was totally drawing some 'lineless' painting of this girl and then WHOOPS, gonna draw zombieman nowww! :iconfacepalmplz: It's fine though, she wasn't that nice anyway. XD I might put it up later tonight though, a small bit of it at least.

White lines on black scare me. EVEN IN PHOTOSHOP IT SCARES ME. FFFF /fails

:la: I had no idea that your zombie came from that. I actually took a good look at it when it appeared on frontpage. Sob, my attention span must be decreasing OH LOOK PUPPIES /shot

...You? ANIME? LAIZ. Seriously, whenever I browse through your gallery, Anime is one of the last things that pops into my mind.

-has been permanently branded with the anime title, and has so far given up any attempts to change it-

LOL, well, that's what you get for drawing something outside your comfort zone? Your brain automatically tries to invent some amazing excuse to escape, such as "OH GOD YOU NEED TO FINISH PHANTOM HOURGLASS. RIGHT NOW. OR LINK WILL GET EATEN BY SHARKS". True story. -shot-

OH GOD WHY IS IT SO CONTRAST-LIKE AND SJELRFJKH

Ahahahah, but it's so good. Fffff- I don't know why, but it is!

Oh god, thank you. ;_; Mind you, this mostly come from people who see my stuff in real life (how they get 'anime' from naked chicks, I'm not really sure...). I think right now I'm aiming for semi realistic, or at least trying to have realistic proportions, but it's hard.

Oh yes, and let's not forget about the occasional 'so like, you probably do lots of mangas, right?' to which I just :iconfacepalmextremeplz:

I've tried anime once, but I could never have the proper 'sty... WAIT A MINUTE I SEE WHAT I DID THERE. Anyway, it's just... DEFINITELY not anime, by comparison at least, anymore, ahaha.

LOL That's EXACTLY what goes through my mind every time I step out there. Exactly. Except the sharks have laser beams attached to their heads and they're swimming. IN LAVA.

I still need to beat Spirit Tracks, especially since I'm at the last Spirit Tower dungeon. Buuuuut, I fucked up and opened doors in the wrong order and now I don't know what to do. And no guide shows how to do it my retarded way so FUUUUUUCK.

I'm depressed. ;_;

Semi realism FTW. I'm trying to, well, broaden out. Have you noticed that most anime seems to sit on the fence? It's not exactly cartoony, but it isn't realistic either. I NEED TO DRAW LESS ANIMU DAMMIT.

........I have never heard that one before. But if I did, I would either destroy that person, or EDUCATE them in the difference between drawing random things and MANGA. DESU. -rages-

-shrugs- I actually thought it was a good thing. Your work is unique. I've never seen any other pieces that can match up to it. HAVE I INFLATED YOUR EGO? Y/Y?

Ah, the 3 doors you mean? I THOUGHT I FUCKED UP TOO SOB. But you can actually get all the keys to the doors regardless of which one you opened first. I seem to remember that at least one of the keys was hidden in the dark room, and you needed to flame Phantom to get it. The other one is behind a pile of blocks, which needs a Wrecker Phantom, and the last one..I GOT THAT ONE FIRST, NOW I DON'T REMEMBER SOB.
Hope..that helps?

The final boss was easy, I was disappointed. NO SPOILERS FOR YOU. :la:

Oh, I know EXACTLY what you mean. Which is why I'm kind of worried if I'm just BARELY over that fence. :S

But even THAT doesn't beat 'OH, YOU DO ABSTRACT ART TOO?' WHAT HAS THE WORLD COME TO???

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY x 6.02 x 10^23 oh god am i nerd enough yet?

Ahaha, oh man, I opened the left door first, then left, and now I need to open the middle one. So I got those keys, but now I need a key to get to the 'opening the 4 torches' room. FFFF. Maybe I'll try to figure it out this weekend.

Well, the final boss of Phantom Hourglass was pretty easy. :S But yeah, that seems to be the general consensus.

I'm sitting squarely on it. I NEED TO CHANGE THAT. Nah, you're quite a bit away from the fence, no worries. :D

...WHUT. ABSTACT ART. NOW I HAVE HEARD EVERYTHING.

D: THOSE NUMBERS. THEY HAUNNNTTT MMEEEEEE Avogadro constant has haunted me SINCE I WAS 16. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

I don't remember where the third key was, cause in my case, I just randomly trotted around, then suddenly I noticed LOL I HAS KEY? :DDDDD WHERE DID THIS KEY COME FROM OTL

Q___Q Sorry I can't be of more help....HOPE YOU GET PAST IT SOON
