You guys are SO lucky I have such a good visual memory (or at least, worked so long on this last time that I remembered every last detail).
There is a lot of text in this and it is quite a small font, so I would definitely recommend you DOWNLOAD this.
This is a very... interesting tutorial of how I made the Gears necklace and how you yourself could make one or something similar. It wasn't meant to be super informative, I just wrote it as I went and decided later on to make this an actual tutorial with PICTURES. That you can barely see, mind you, but they aren't that nice anyhow.
One day I hope to learn to metalwork so I could do things like this a more solid way. But, surprisingly, although this piece is made completely out of clay, I've dropped it three times from at least a meter high and it has yet to break. (Well, the small gold leafed gear came off, but all the gears are still intact.)
THAT IS ALL. Expect more stuff like this in the future weeks. It's summer, which means, SCULPTEY TIMEEEE!
it's one of the only tutorials of clay gears i've seen and i've had a hard time making them :3 so i was so glad to see it! if you update it that'd be cool too!
Man, I haven't done gears, much less sculpting, in ages! I really do enjoy working with it though. Maybe once I have from free time from school I'll make a little something.
THIS IS SO HELPFUL! Thank you! I actually bought clay to make a gear hair pin the other day, and I thought it would be better to find a tutorial than to just wing it! So thank you! ... And Physics is SO awesome!
This tutorial is so old, but I'm glad people like you can use it as reference. And yes, physics is awesome. I just wish I studied harder in first year so my enthusiasm would show in my grades, ahaha.
I'm studying Geological Engineering, but my first year was general engineering so I had to take all sciences and math courses. Although there are still a lot of physics in what I study (lol geophysics y u so hard). I can't even imagine studying pure physics. I'd die within the first week!
LOL that's sooo cool! And I actually want to double major in Particle Physics and Chinese. A couple Summers ago I read a book about Quantum physics, and I've been obsessed ever since! What university do you go to?

And are you currently studying physics?
