Forget Me Not...

 MY PERSONALITY

INTJ - "Mastermind". Introverted intellectual with a preference for finding certainty. A builder of systems and the applier of theoretical models. 2.1% of total population.

And to think after 5 years of doing those tests I always get the same results. Score!

Good day (or night in this case it would seem) to you, DA!

My, it’s been a long time, hasn’t it! Yes, I’ve been quite busy as of late, and only just now managed to catch my breath from all this ‘work’. I say ‘work’, because most of my time consists of walking by the lake with friends, going for late night snacks, and just stupid all-round fun watching children’s shows while trying to wrestle between a guy and a girl trying to decide who is going to get up to change the channel. Because our common room TV remote only has dead batteries. And we always forget to bring fresh ones once we head downstairs. D’oh.

Needless to say, the crunching pain of work has yet to fall upon me (although my first midterm is in mid October – Chemistry) as I’ve very much been enjoying all the actual projects I’ve been handed. I’m about to design and 3D model a camera as well for my drafting class final project, which is going to be awesome. I guess computer programs don’t necessarily HAVE to be a pain in the ass, not when you understand them at least (it took me and my lab partner a whole hour to figure out how to make a cube in Solid Edge. Turns out we were using a 2D file, so the damn cube couldn’t exist!).

I should really stop talking about school work; I doubt you guys would be interested. But oh man, I am enjoying it far more than I expected to! Very good thing indeed!

Yesterday I’ve finally had the chance to explore a bit more of Kingston (read: check out the local art store) and so I managed to grab just a few more colours of Windsor & Newton, as I’d promised myself I would. It pays to buy used books, that’s for sure. Free extra money, yay! I also bought some larger paper formats , just a few so I force myself to go visit the store more often, and I plan to start on a doodle I did in one of my classes but not really a class because it was just explaining to us a class that we’ll have NEXT semester (I still don’t quite get that).

I now have two drawings queued up. Hopefully I get to draw both of them soon enough. I’m having a REAL art withdrawal here (though not completely, I can assure you that. I’ll explain what I mean in a few weeks). Plus, as a traditional I’ve had for ages, the first pastels to touch the paper, other than the sketchers, will be the ones I newly bought, no matter the colour. It’s a fun way to get me ‘into’ a painting.

…What? Did any of you honestly think I’d let my art go once I left to study? No way! I in no way take offense to the name ‘the one who could have been an ArtSci but didn’t’, however grammatically incorrect that statement is. Oh, I’m also the official floor corrector, or so it would seem. Apparently I didn’t get the stupid writer’s gene from my father, but I can’t say the same about 95% of my faculty. Our year verses nearly had three typos in it. And we were sending them to get published. True story.

Also purple. Have I mentioned I dyed myself purple? For a football game? At homecoming? Yes, I never thought I’d live to see myself speak those words in the same sentence (well, technically that wasn’t a sentence, but I have said it in real life), but I did! Sadly, I have no pictures. :( My camera died as we were purpling ourselves. So unless you guys are interested in 5 nearly naked men in a kiddy pool filled with purple carcinogenic dye, no such luck. And yeah, it was as awesome as I just made it out to be.

Yes, this has definitely been the best decision of my life. I can now say with complete confidence to all the future engineering students of Canada: Go. To. Queen’s. NOW. It’ll make you x10000000 more awesome (yes, it is a very big number because your current awesome level is an extremely low one, compared to our awesomeness. Hence the big number.). And hell, even if you don’t like science, come here anyhow so you can watch US be awesome! You’ll not regret it!

Man, I’m so awesome. I should write for a sarcastic newspaper or something. Also build a canoe. Yup. S’gonna be one heck of a year!

I’ll talk to y’all some more at (Canuck) Thanksgiving!

Cheeerios!

~ Michy ‘the purple’ Bee.

Meet Michy B., a carefree, somewhat idiotic artist no one understands!

I've been an artist ever since I can remember, in every sense of the word; writing, painting, acting, music... Albeit I may not be the greatest at the latter, I do appreciate it.

I've begun my journey into pastels a few years ago, when I was first a freshman and have been falling deeper in love with the medium ever since. I enjoy the company of those who appreciate the pastel medium, or even those who appreciate any kind of traditional art (fight the power?), and would visit your gallery in a heartbeat if I were asked to do so.

My main focus in art is soft pastels, but I am slowly starting to open up to new forms of traditional art in order to begin a more mixed approach. So far I've experimented with soft pastels, oil pastels, acrylics and charcoal. Got any other bright ideas? Drop me a note with your combination and I might be inclined to give it a try!

I did a bit of lightfast testing, and boy did one pigment of Design Nupastel fail in less than a day. :dummy:

And I recently ordered a 30 set of Rembrandt soft pastels (portrait set). I am fuckin' stoked!

What's up?

Oh that is AWESOME. (Well, the seeing it fail within a day, not the actual owning pastels that fail within day bit).

Nice. :D Since my birthday is pretty soon (in exactly one week) and my parents were hassling me as to what I wanted for it, I told them I wanted some Winsor & Newton pastels, which probably have my favorite texture out of all my pastels. But then they started whining that they couldn't find them anywhere and now it sucks. >_> I might have to check the local art store to see if they have sets now. I know they have open stock, but they're the last ones there and they aren't restocking them. I is sad.

As for what's up, oh man, just finished a bunch of cruel midterms (namely chemistry, calculus and physics) and I have on left this week on geology which ia just 100 multiple choice questions about pretty much anything related to earth sciences. But that's okay, I enjoy that class. :) I'm just glad I'll be able to breathe a little once this week is over, just in time for my birthday. XD

Yeah, a pigment of my Nupastels failed in less than a day (it wasn't prismacolor brand, but yeah).

Well, if your parents online shop, they can go here:

Here are the sets:

I was gonna link you to Dickblick, but then I saw they had limited stock:

I wonder if Dickblick's not gonna sell them anymore....

Aw shit, you taking the Chemistry, calculus and physics? That is a lot of math. I know chemistry is science, but all the freakin' chemistry equations.... x_x

But at least it won't last forever. Since I likely will forget, happy early birthday! :)

Ha. XD That's amazing.

True, but the main problem is the extra shipping charges. To ship from the US costs so much more than having it shipped internally in Canada. That and my parents are paranoid. D: Or at least my mom is.

That would make two stores that stopped selling them. :( They're a very good brand though.

And geology. And personal computers. And engineering graphics (drafting). Also a class dedicated to doing labs and writing reports. It's an engineering degree, so I can't exactly complain, but man, the math involved does hurt my brain at times. It's not even that they're difficult equations, just the sheer number of them makes me cringe. >_<

Thank you! :D

When you're walking through a dark alley you better think twice before turning around.. my fangs will devour your flesh and suck your blood.

I was going to comment on the emerald one but I had to leave for class. XD But yeah, I definitely see an improvement, so keep it up! :)

It also makes me happy to see you so active on here now! Gives me even more of a reason to constantly check the site (even though it is such a huge distraction when I have to do anything else, ahaha).

LOL it is a great site. I'm a little less busy at work so I have a bit more time to go on the computer. other than DA on a rare occasion I do not go on the computer.

thanks, you should see the model I'm drawing now. I think you'll like her alot. heh

:icondrakarus:
Oh sweet. XD You have computers at work? I don't even think you've told me where you are working! D:

Either way, that's pretty kickass. DA is such a time waster for me, even though I should REALLY be doing my math right now, ahaha.

Oh sweet! :D Can't wait until you put her up then! I need inspiration for more drawings, particularly action-y time drawings. But the next one I plan on doing is, GASP, ANOTHER NAKED CHICK. Goddamn, I need to start drawing naked MEN.
